Address: Gums Lane, Marchmont NSW
Turn left on to Gums Lane and continue down the road a couple of km’s. The entry to the racecourse is on the right, just as the road changes to dirt.
Please note: The perimeter of the showground is fenced, the main field is mostly open to the rest of the racecourse. You will need to ensure you can catch your dog quickly and recall it.
Under no circumstances are dogs to be walked along the boundary to the right of the driveway (there are Alpaca located there)
CHECK IN
Check in is between 8.AM & 8.45AM at the Secretary's table. If we're ready earlier, we may open check in earlier, but we won't hold it open later for any reason. You must be checked in prior to the trial start and the briefing. Judge's score sheets are finalised based on check in so if you are late, it will be too late.
We are not conducting formal vetting, but the Club reserves the right to vet any entrant present on the grounds should it deem it necessary. Females in season may not trial and must not be in the trial precinct.
You will be given a number at check in - bring an armband, a safety pin or something you can use to pin it to your clothing so officials can see your number when you bring your dog to the gate. Dogs will run in catalogue number
PUBLIC DRAW
Blankets for the Open & Field Champion Classes will be drawn immediately after check in closes. If you have an Open or Field Champion entry, please be present for the draw. For those handlers with the only one of its breed class, your blanket colour will be yellow, all classes with a brace or trio will be part of the random draw.
EQUIPMENT CHECK
Closes at 9:15AM
For all dogs running in the Open & Field Champ classes, Qualifying Course, along with any dog required to wear a muzzle or voluntarily wearing one. Bring your dog/s wearing its blanket or muzzle, along with your number/s. Please present to the secretary’s desk prior to 9.15 am.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Wire muzzles are not permitted
- All blankets must be plain in colour
After check in, the President will give an event and safety briefing and introduce our judge, lure driver and other officials.
The catalogue will be uploaded on Saturday 9th , you will be able to locate it on Show Manager and also the DOGS NSW Lure Coursing Competitions Group.
PARKING AND SET UP
Park where indicated. Please be considerate of the grounds.
Do not under any circumstances drive or park on the racetrack, other than to cross it onto the field.
You need to have a secure crate for your dog. If your dog is easily aroused, bring a cover to help keep them quiet.
Please note, you may not tie your dog up as a form of containment. The only acceptable containment is:
- a wire crate,
- an appropriately fitted out vehicle, or
- a dog trailer bay
Your dog may become highly aroused. Don’t sit with your dog letting it watch the field – it may build frustration and also puts too many aroused dogs near the field entrance, which raises the risk of unwanted interactions between dogs.
Listen for the steward but otherwise give other dogs and people space. Do not underestimate the ability of a very motivated dog to escape when the bags are running – make sure your containment is rock solid.
OFF LEASH – NO
At no time other than when it is under the direction of the Huntmaster on the field is your dog to be off lead. Any handler found to have a dog off lead on the showgrounds will be asked to leave.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING?
- Something to sit on
- Some shelter if you think you will need it
- Poo bags – Poo and other rubbish must be picked up and taken home with you
There is high competition for venues like this, and we wish to be able to book again for future events.
CATERING
BYO food and drinks
CAMPING
Is available on the grounds. Bookings have closed on Show Manager, however the club may be contacted. Camping is $20 , for a powered site and available Saturday night only. Please note there are now showers.
THE WEATHER
Check the forecast before heading out.
We suggest you bring:
- Additional shade/shelter for you and your dog
- Hats
- Sunglasses
- Wet weather gear
- Sunscreen
If rain is only light, we will keep running. We will stop if there is extreme weather (e.g. lightning).
RULES
Lure Coursing Rules – Dogs Australia
Sections of the rules to pay particular attention to:
- 5.4 – you run your dog entirely at your own risk.
- 5.8, 5.9, 5.10 – restrictions on the type of equipment you can use to take your dog onto the field. A good thick slip leash is your friend.
- Section 6 – all the reasons why your dog can be excused, dismissed or disqualified.
When you get on the field, the Huntmaster calls the shots. What the Huntmaster says, goes. If they tell you where to walk, it's because they are looking out for your safety and the safety of your dog around the equipment.
If your dog invades the field, it will be formally dismissed (6.2) which means it does not qualify and cannot run again that day.
PHOTOGRAPHS
Vero https://verofojt.mypixieset.com/
You are welcome to take photos and video of your own dogs from outside the field, but not while you are on the field.
When we have an official photographer booked, we ask that you do not take photos of other people's dogs and upload them to FB, as it undercuts the work of our official photographers.
