We are offering limited spots for the first official Dogs Australia Bale Seek Training Session in Queensland, to be held at Laidley Showgrounds on the weekend of 2nd, 3rd of May.

Please read the following information regarding what to expect on the day.

This sport is open to any breed of dog. All dogs must be a minimum of 6 months of age. No bitches in Oestrum are permitted to attend the event or be present on the grounds.

The training sessions will be held at the Laidley Showgrounds, 2 MacGregor St Laidley. There is also a car event on at the venue the same weekend.

We will be using the area where the cattle stalls and wash bay are located. Parking is available. If it is a hot day, you may need to bring your own shade. Bring drinks and snack, some food vendors may be on the grounds for the car event, but we cannot guarantee it. Names will be left at the gate so you will not be asked to pay for entry to the grounds.

These training sessions are a fun way to learn about the new sport of Bale Seek and to see if your dogs can locate the hidden "quarry".

We will endeavour to cater for reactive dogs by running them first, please let us know at check-in. When dogs are not engaged in training, they must be kept crated unless they are being toileted. This is required for safety and to cater to our reactive friends.

Dogs and their handlers will first be introduced to the "quarry'' that is placed in pvc tubes.

The dogs will each get an introduction to the "quarry" in an Instinct Test where the tubes are not hidden. Teams will then have 2 novice runs that involve the dog jumping onto bales and going through a tunnel built of hay whilst locating the "quarry" that will be hidden in the bales. If you have an older dog, they can omit the climb onto the bales.

The search area is enclosed with portable fencing, dogs MUST run naked, no collars may be worn for the safety of the dogs.

Please note that the "quarry " does not involve the use of live animals.

Training aids can be purchased on the day if you decide you would like to practice at home. Please bring along some cash.

As this is a training day, people will be encouraged to observe other teams as they train. However for safety and to minimise distractions, no dogs may be near the search area if you are observing. No flexi leads are permitted.

In fairness to people being able to get a spot, there will be a limit of 2 dogs per owner permitted to enter. There will be multiple 90 minute blocks of sessions, a handler/owner may only enter one session.

When you enter, please add your dogs call name and breed into the notes section.

If you do not attend your paid training spot. No refunds will be given.
